Pouring Out Profits In Your Nightclub? Bottle Service Bolsters Sales!
I know that all businesses face shortage and loss in various forms. It may be operational loss due to poor procedures or lack of training. It can be due to vendors not billing properly or shorting a business of product. There is also loss due to dishonest employees. My background is retail loss prevention, but I have found that much of what I learned over the years in the retail business has an equivalent in other businesses such as restaurants, grocery stores, etc. In the case of nightclubs and bars, loss can occur with alcohol but bottle service may be part of the solution to this problem.
In a club or bar the bartender has the ability to control how much he or she pours for patrons. There are bartenders who will pour too much alcohol into drinks for friends. This of course costs the nightclub money since it eats into the profit each bottle provides. Instead of relying solely on a bartender, a club that offers bottle service provides a bottle or two of a top shelf liquor or wine to a group as part of the purchase price of the package. The service includes a table in a prime location, usually somewhere near the dance floor. If it is a large enough group, there is possibly a room reserved with a view of the band and dance floor. The final perk is a dedicated waiter or waitress to serve the group while they are in the club.
The bottles served to the group come with bottle locks that can only be removed by the server. The bottle locks prevent anyone not a part of the group from accessing the beverages. The locks are tamper proof and are nearly impossible to be pried off the bottle. The server carries a portable detachment key that is used to unlock the cap when drinks are to be poured. Drinks are served from the bottles only by the group’s waiter or waitress. Since the bottles belong to the group, there is no “over pouring” a drink with more alcohol than has been paid for in advance.
In addition to bartenders causing loss due to over pouring, whether intentionally or not, there is also the issue of mixing up orders. In a nightclub, the crowds at the bar can make it difficult for bartenders and servers to get orders correct. Anytime a drink is picked up by the wrong patron or not poured and mixed improperly the chances are good a patron is going to send the drink back expecting a replacement or expect a drink they never received in the first place. Nightclubs with a bottle service avoid this because the waitress or waiter is not trying to serve a large group of people ordering at the same time. Their focus is on the small group they are waiting on. Chances of error are greatly reduced in this situation.
Nightclubs can benefit in a number of ways by incorporating a bottle service into their operation. A personalized club experience with a dedicated wait staff can be an effective method to create repeat business. Using bottle locks will provide security for a group’s purchase, protecting it from party crashers. Finally, a dedicated waiter or waitress controls the flow of alcohol from pre-purchased bottles. There is none of the opportunity for pouring excessive amounts of alcohol as is the case in a regular club situation. Take the opportunity to reduce profit loss, consider making bottle service a part of your business.

Bottle Locks Can Help Control Business Insurance Expense
Liquor stores carry a potentially higher risk liability than many other businesses. Depending on the store and the offerings, the business may have to insure itself against potential liability if special events are held that include drink tasting. Is the liquor store protected against potential liquor liability laws? What about loss of business income if the store is temporarily closed or a license suspended? Let’s face it, liquor stores seem to be a frequent target of robberies and theft, is the store protected from losses due to theft? Obviously businesses have to carry liability insurance, BUT, are there steps you can take to help lower your exposure to risk? What if a simple solution to help minimize your insurance expenses is to utilize Alpha security products such as bottle locks?
You may be asking how the use of bottle locks could minimize risk and insurance costs. Were you even aware that Alpha security devices include protection for bottles? If you own a liquor store or a wine shop, you are probably already familiar with bottle security, but if not here is a quick description. Bottle locks come in a variety of shapes and styles, designed to fit over the top of wine and liquor bottles. If someone attempts to pry a lock off they risk breaking the bottle and spilling the contents. If an attempt is made to walk out the door and the building has an electronic article surveillance system, the alarm will alert store employees of an attempted theft.
What does this have to do with risk? Businesses are required to carry insurance, and depending on the type of business, the business owner may want or need to carry additional coverage. For example, a business that owns a vehicle to travel will need vehicle insurance. This may not be necessary for the business that does not require transportation of persons or goods. In the same manner, a liquor store may be at higher risk for robbery and theft than perhaps a bicycle repair shop. Property insurance for a liquor store may be necessary to cover losses due to theft, including liquor and wine bottles. Alpha security products could mitigate some of that risk, deterring would-be shoplifters from stealing and creating a business loss. And bear in mind, not all shoplifting is a single bottle being taken here or there. There are professional thieves that can cause significant financial losses to a store. They will come in, often in teams and distract employees and walk out with high priced bottles, sometimes doing this multiple times in one day. If a significant portion of your merchandise is protected by bottle security devices, most thieves will not want to put the time and effort into trying to force off locks and risk damaging the merchandise. They will find the store that is not protected and go there to commit their crimes.
Another potential risk for loss is from employee theft. No one wants to think their employees will steal from them but the fact is dishonest employees are out there. I have almost 20 years of loss prevention experience and I have learned there is no way to look at an employee and know they will steal from you. Sometimes they will steal simply because an opportunity becomes available to do so and sometimes they steal out of a felt hardship. Regardless of the reason, employee theft can cause even more loss than a shoplifter. Bottle locks can be a useful means to deter employees from stealing. They will be aware of the chance of setting off an alarm if they decide to try to remove a bottle from the premises.
By controlling your expenses, you can make your business much more profitable. Alpha bottle locks are one way you can cut your losses and save money on insurance. Protect your merchandise and reduce or eliminate the need to file insurance claims and add profit to your bottom line. See what bottle security products can do for you.

If you are in the retail business of selling wines and liquors, you are probably running a constant defense to protect your inventory. If you think about it, it really just takes losing a bottle or two on a regular basis to start adding up to a major loss. Really, the same goes for bars and nightclubs. If you have someone taking a little at a time, it will start to accrue into a much larger problem. There are many good reasons to utilize bottle locks in either of these types of businesses, but a top one is the chance of an employee with a substance abuse problem. You can put your head in the sand and convince yourself that none of your staff would do such a thing. By the time you figure out you need bottle security; it could already be too late. A proactive approach could save you and your employees a lot of problems in the future.
Let me tell you a short story about a problem I am facing as I write this. I work for a small retail pharmacy. No, my problem has nothing to do with liquor bottle security, but you’ll soon see the relevance. I have recently transferred to a new location, and it has been nothing but bad on top of worse. Then the nightmare happened last week. I was sitting in my office, eating my lunch, and just browsing the cameras. That’s when I saw it: a technician took a pill bottle off the shelf and went into a corner with it. He bent down with the bottle out of view, then stood up and returned it to the shelf. I immediately had a sick feeling. After he left for the day, I went back and performed a cycle count on the bottle, and my fears were confirmed. This is a 500 count bottle, and it was missing 124 pills. We don’t use bottle locks on our pill bottles because most of the strong stuff is secured in safes, but this particular pain medication is not. I made some calls, and I’ve been monitoring this guy (and the bottle) on a daily basis since this happened. Two days after I discovered his crime he worked again and 14 more pills disappeared. The following day he pocketed 7 more, so that’s now 145 stolen I don’t know if he or someone close to him has an addiction, if he’s selling them. It doesn’t matter. The only question in my mind at this point is whether he will go out in handcuffs quietly or kicking and screaming after we interview tomorrow morning. When it’s all over, installing bottle security tools will be my new priority.
The point here is that when an employee starts stealing from you, whether it’s money, pills, or liquor, a little at a time starts adding up. My guy hasn’t just stolen the whole bottle at once because we would catch on to that. If he was opening a vodka bottle and taking drinks from it every day, that would be just as bad though. When you have a business that sells items that have the potential for abuse like that, bottle locks are paramount. If you have a bar, you need to have a plan for liquor bottle security for your storage room and open stock. You need to be doing comparisons of what you are purchasing vs what you are selling. Internal theft makes up the biggest piece of the pie for all business losses. Making the investment into bottle security will pay you back over and over. Take away the temptation and keep your peace of mind and your profits.

Protect Profits From Pricey Premiums – Consider The Benefits Of A Bottle Service
Bars and nightclubs are high energy, fast paced environments. But like any business, they have their own unique challenges and risks associated with them. Because they sell alcohol, the potential liabilities club owners and even employees face can be a little intimidating. No business owner wants to have to contest a lawsuit, but in today’s litigious society, there always seems to be someone seeking to make a quick buck. This is not to infer there are not legitimate claims out there, but many lawsuits are trivial and looking for that fast settlement. So what can an owner do to protect his or her interests and still run a profitable club or bar? Why not take a look at the advantages of starting a bottle service that includes Alpha bottle locks to minimize liabilities?
Unfortunately where alcohol is served, there is a strong likelihood that at some point someone will become too intoxicated and a fight will break out. If a nightclub has a bottle service option, a well-trained serving staff can monitor alcohol consumption by the parties they are serving. How so? This service provides customers who purchase it, special treatment and a dedicated server. The level of service purchased determines the number of and type of bottled alcohol beverages they will be served. The bottles come with bottle locks, such as the Alpha EASy bottle guard, that can only be opened with a key held by the server. The server controls the amount of alcohol consumed by members of a group and can determine if an individual may have reached their limit and can stop serving that person. Think of the benefit to your nightclub if you could cut off alcohol to patrons before they hit a level of intoxication that might contribute to a fight.
Starting and running bars and clubs costs money. One must invest in a building, equipment, merchandise (in this case primarily alcoholic beverages) and staff. While nightclubs have the potential to bring in significant profits, there are expenses that have to be controlled or those profits will quickly dwindle away. Insurance is one of those costs required for any business, but the bar and club owner have to be sure to have coverage for more than just liability coverage. Do you have property insurance to cover damages due to broken property if a fight breaks out? Furnishings, glasses, signs, even the exterior of the building such as landscaping need to be covered. If, as mentioned above, your wait staff is trained to identify customers who are becoming too intoxicated they can use their customer service training and control of the bottle lock key to cut off drinks to a patron who may start a fight, become involved in a fight, or simply start falling into things and breaking them. Prevention can save you on insurance by not having to file claims.
Is your club insured for liability that covers dram shop laws? These laws hold bars and clubs liable if they serve a person that is intoxicated and that person injures a third party, which may include car accidents. Making bottle service an option in your club may help to limit this risk. Trained staff who may suspect a member of the party they are serving has had too much to drink they can keep the EASy bottle lock on and prevent further service. They can partner with management to make arrangements for a taxi, or they can work with a party leader to ensure there is a designated driver who can get the patron home.
Use of EASy bottle locks can also protect a bar or club owner against employee theft, another concern when looking at property insurance. It is not a pleasant thought to consider that your employees might steal from you, but it happens and in a club without controls in place, employees could easily hide bottles and leave with them. Having an EAS system and using EASy bottle locks, you can deter employees from leaving work with your product, since the lock will alarm at the antenna. As long as you have key controls in place, employees will not be able to get the caps off if they were to get a bottle home. Lose too many bottles and you may have to file property loss claims against your insurer.
Taking steps to minimize insurance claims, by using bottle service in your nightclub and Alpha locks on your bottles can reduce your expenses. Fewer insurance claims leads to more money in your pocket. See if bottle service might be the right fit for your club.

Building A Bigger Fan Base With Bottle Service
New Year’s Eve is just around the corner and with it parties, celebrations, and bars and clubs filled with revelers looking for a good time. Celebrations don’t stop there, sports fans will be crowding into sports bars and clubs for College Football Bowl Games and in February, Super Bowl parties will take center stage. March Madness is not far behind, and again, sports bars will be filled with fans rooting their favorite college teams on to victory. Most of the customers go to the bars and clubs to have a good time and enjoy friends and engage in good natured badgering of those cheering for rival teams. What an opportune time for bars and clubs which may not already have a Bottle Service to start one! With this service, nightclubs and bars can offer a dedicated server to a group and bottles of liquor or wine secured with bottle locks. The bottle locks can help a sports bar or club to keep those who are partying a little too excessively from continuing if they begin to become a nuisance.
Obviously sports bar and nightclub owners want their patrons to have a good time, but always within reason. When fans get a little too intoxicated it is easy for good natured fun to get out of control. It may be the fan who just becomes excessively loud or the one who gets angry and aggressive towards others. When patrons are permitted continual access to alcohol without any constraints that is the time when fights and arguments flare up, sometimes with little or no reason. With a bottle service, bottle locks are used to secure the bottle and drinks are poured by a waiter or waitress. The server has a key to open the lock and pour drinks when requested and secures the lock in place again once drinks are filled. If a patron is deemed to be becoming too intoxicated, the server has the ability to refuse to open the bottle and refill a drink. This service also gives the club or bar owner the ability to identify if a patron is not fit to drive and insist on a group’s dedicated driver to step in or insist a cab be called for the patron.
You may be wondering how you can make a bottle service work in your sports bar or nightclub. In either situation separate seating areas or rooms can be set aside for group reservation. If the group is large enough consider setting aside a room with a bar and wait staff that are dedicated to this group. For a sports bar there may be several large televisions with multiple games playing. For a nightclub, the room might be used for office get-togethers, birthday celebrations, wedding parties, etc. Set a group rate and designate the number of top shelf alcoholic beverages will be included in the price. Dedicate a waiter or waitress to the group and he or she will be the server and control the bottle cap key. The server can ensure no uninvited guests enter the group area and disrupt the party or try to drink from the allotted bottle(s). The server can be told in advance who a designated driver for the party group will be and ensure that the dedicated driver is not provided with alcohol and they can partner with the dedicated driver if a member of the group is becoming too rambunctious. The use of bottle caps and locks can help management keep control over a facility and intervene before issues arise by cutting off access to wine and spirits when a group is using a bottle service.
Bottle Service can be an asset to your sports bar or club by catering to groups of fans or special occasion celebrations. Provide a unique experience with dedicated wait staff and control the festivities by incorporating bottle locks so fans don’t turn fanatical in your establishment.
